Our Foundation 2027 handbook covers the school, its programs and the transition to Prep — the whole picture, in one place, before you commit to anything.
Foundation is the Victorian name for Prep — your child’s first year of school. Children generally start Foundation in the year they turn five by 30 April, and enrolment follows a statewide timeline set by the Department of Education so that every family across Victoria applies in the same window.
If you live inside our school zone, your place is guaranteed. Zones are set by permanent residential address and published on the Victorian Government’s Find My School site. Families outside the zone are welcome to apply, and are placed under the Department’s Placement Policy where places are available.

How to apply
Five steps, in order
Nothing here is complicated. If any of it is, call the office and someone will walk you through it.

Come and look
Book a personalised tour with the principal — weekly at 10:00am. Bring your child. This is the step most families say mattered most, and it costs you half an hour.
- 02
Check the timeline
The Department of Education runs a statewide Foundation enrolment timeline that tells you when applications open, when offers go out, and when you need to accept by.
- 03
Submit the application
Complete the enrolment application form and hand it to the school office or email it through, with your child’s birth certificate or passport and immunisation certificate.
- 04
Accept your place
Once your enrolment is accepted we may ask for a few more things — a health management plan, or any reports that help us understand your child before day one rather than after it.

Transition
Your child comes in for Kinder to Prep transition sessions across Term 4, meets their teacher and their buddy, and walks the yard — so the first day of school is not the first day they have been here.

Kinder to Prep
So the first day of school is not the first day here
Transition starts before Term 4 through Kismet Kidlets, giving future Foundation students the chance to become familiar with the school, our staff and the learning environment.
This then leads into our Term 4 transition program, where children visit classrooms, meet staff and begin building relationships with the Year 6 buddies who will support them when they start school.
The program also connects with the statewide transition process, helping make the move into Foundation as familiar and supported as possible.
A feel for school
Several transition sessions in the classroom give children the chance to get to know the routines, spaces and learning that will soon become familiar.
Meet their teacher
Children have the chance to meet and spend time with their Foundation teacher before their first day, helping make the start of school feel more familiar.
A familiar face from day one
A Year 6 buddy is paired with your child, giving them a familiar older face to look for in the yard and someone they already know from the start.
Getting parents ready too
Three parent sessions give families the chance to learn what to expect, understand the school day, prepare for the start of Foundation and ask questions along the way.

Weekly, at 10:00am, walked by the principal
School tours are held weekly at 10:00am and are led by the principal. You will see classrooms in action, visit our learning and specialist spaces, walk the grounds and have plenty of time to ask questions along the way.
It is a chance to see how the school actually works and start getting to know us before making your decision.

When does my child start Foundation?

How do I know if I am in the school zone?

Can I enrol if I live outside the zone?
Yes, you are welcome to apply. Places outside the zone are offered under the Department of Education’s Placement Policy when they are available. Call the school office and we will tell you honestly where things stand for your child’s year level.
What documents do I need to enrol?
A birth certificate or passport and an immunisation history statement are required with every application, plus your child’s passport if they were born overseas. Once an enrolment is accepted we may also ask for an asthma or anaphylaxis management plan, or any paediatrician, psychologist, speech or occupational therapy reports.
Does my child need to be toilet trained before starting school?
Children are expected to manage toileting independently by the time they start Foundation, but if that is a concern for your child, tell us during enrolment rather than on the first day. We would much rather plan with you than react.
How do I book a school tour?
Call the school office on (03) 9744 4566. Tours run every week at 10:00am and are walked by the principal, with classrooms in session rather than staged. You are welcome to bring your child. You can also request a time through the form on this page and we will call you back.
What happens between enrolling and the first day?
Kinder to Prep transition runs across Term 4. Your child visits the school several times, sits in a real classroom, meets the teacher they will actually have, and is introduced to the senior student who becomes their buddy. There is also a parent session covering what to pack and what the day looks like.
Is there before and after school care?
Yes. Out of School Hours Care runs on site in partnership with TheirCare, covering before school, after school and school holidays. Bookings and fees are managed directly with TheirCare rather than through the school office.
