How we keep in touch
How we keep you informed
We use different channels for different kinds of communication, from newsletters and school updates to reminders, notices and community news.
The newsletter
The main one. Term dates, curriculum days, event notices, class news and anything that needs a bit of explaining. Goes out to every family.
Compass
Day to day and time sensitive: absences, permission forms, excursion payments, parent–teacher conference bookings, school reports and the calendar.
Seesaw
Your child’s learning, as it happens — work samples, photos and videos shared by their teacher, building into a portfolio across the year.
The pictures. Carnivals, concerts, incursions and the moments worth showing rather than describing. Public, so it is also where prospective families look.
This page
The archive. Announcements worth keeping, written properly and findable later — rather than scrolling back through a feed to see what was said.
The school year
Terms, reports and the dates that matter
Victorian government schools run four terms across the year, with holidays between each and a longer break over summer. Kismet Park adds its own rhythm on top of that: curriculum days, when students do not attend and staff are in professional learning; parent–teacher conferences, where you sit down with your child’s teacher and go through their goals; and written reports twice a year.
Term dates and curriculum days are set well in advance and go out through the newsletter and the app as soon as they are confirmed — curriculum days in particular are worth putting in your calendar early, because they need childcare arranged.
Events fill in the rest of the year: House Athletics, Book Week, the school production, 100 Days of Prep, the Mother’s Day and Father’s Day events, the disco and trivia night the Parents and Community Association runs, ice-cream day, the Christmas picnic, and Year 6 graduation. If you would rather not miss any of it, the newsletter is the one to read.
